Cuonzo Martin is an American basketball coach and former player. He most recently served as the head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers men’s basketball program before leaving to become head coach of the University of Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team.
Martin began his college coaching career in 2008 as an assistant coach at the University of Dayton, before being promoted to head coach at Missouri State in 2011. He was head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers from 2011-2014, before being hired at California in 2014, then Purdue in 2017.

Why are they firing LSU coach?
On August 24, 2020, LSU and head football coach Ed Orgeron mutually agreed to part ways. The decision was driven by the overall performance of the team. The program had seen a series of inconsistent results, with a record of 14-10 in the last two years, including losses to current SEC rivals Arkansas and Missouri, as well as an upset loss to UTSA in 2019.
On top of that, the team didn’t fare well against ranked opponents, losing all six games it played against ranked teams. The inconsistency was accompanied by the lack of championship-level performance on the field.
LSU was never able to reach the team’s full potential, ultimately resulting in the decision to part ways. Ultimately, the decision to fire LSU’s head coach was based on the lack of results and performance on the field, rather than any single factor.
What coaches did the Florida Gators fire?
The University of Florida Gators fired two of their coaches earlier this year. The first was head football coach Jim McElwain, who left the program in October amidst mostly poor results during his tenure, as well as reports of infighting and turmoil within the team.
