Why did we get a blue alert in Texas?

On February 15th, 2021, Texas was struck with a Blue Alert when a DPS Trooper was shot while conducting a traffic stop in Montague County. The trooper was shot in the neck and then discharged his weapon while falling to the ground.

Authorities issued an “attempt to locate” bulletin, which prompted the first ever Blue Alert in Texas history. The Blue Alert was issued across five states in the region and signaled to the public that a suspect was still at large.
